Bayern Munich could bring Sven Ulreich back in summer
Bayern Munich will be keen to resolve the goalkeeper situation at the start of the summer transfer window. The German champions must make a decision on the immediate future of the young keeper Alexandre nubel. It looks like Die Roten has to approve a loan for Alexander Nubel.
According to Air sports in Germany, Sven Ulreich could be heading towards a return to Bayern this summer. Ulreich is likely to replace Nubel in the short term before the young keeper returns from a possible loan in the future. Besides Sky, several German points of sale also confirmed this development in the warden department of Die Roten.
Ulreich left Die Roten last season for Hamburg. Although he has a few seasons left on his contract at Hamburg, Ulreich has made a deal to end that deal. The transfer from Ulreich to Bavaria will depend on Nubel’s departure.
Nubel has struggled to get consistent playing time in Munich after joining club Schalke last summer. The German champions reportedly want him to stay at the club, but Nubel wants more playing time next season after warming up the bench for the past 12 months.
The 24-year-old must play regularly after gaining vital training experience with Neuer last season. French clubs have garnered great interest, while Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have also been credited with an interest in the young German shooter.
Rekordmeister has been linked to Stefan Ortega from Arminia Bielefeld. However, bringing in Ulreich will be a much more achievable transfer for Die Roten. The budget for the summer transfer window is tight, so spending a fee on an assistant goalie doesn’t make sense. In addition, Sven Ulreich has significant experience playing for Bayern.
Sven Ulreich had a successful spell on his first stint at Rekordmeister. During his five-year tenure at the club, Ulreich played 70 games. He was a solid replacement for Neuer. In the 2017/18 campaign, Ulreich appeared in 47 games when Neuer was sidelined with a serious injury. His experience will come in handy next season. More importantly, Ulreich will likely be content to become the best goalkeeper in the world again.

Die Roten could have some major upheaval in the goalkeeping department this summer. Christian Fruchtl could be on loan again after a bad patch at FC Nurnberg last season. Meanwhile, Ron-Thorben Hoffmann is set to leave Die Roten for good despite his one-year contract extension.
